TiTum was created out of a realization that there is no such thing as ‘The best headphone’.

For example, some headphones have excellent bass, whilst others have better frequency response and each headphone have their own sound parameters that create their specific TRADEMARK character. The point is that no headphone has it all, as their hardware is fine-tuned to produce specific sounds.

This concept brought us to an Idea. What if we could create a headphone that can become other headphone? The Headphone with hardware that can produce almost any sound, with software that users can change on-demand to get the sound they want, and The Headphone that truly has it all. Better still, what if we could produce The Headphone that can literally ‘BECOME’ other headphones?

So, in 2017, we began to develop TiTum, the world's only all-in-one headphone that can transform to become other headphones you wanted. Our hard work has paid off and we successfully launched 'TiTum' headphone.

The journey to excellence begins with superior hardware
Great sound starts with great hardware. No matter how fancy the tech, you can’t beat the basics. If the hardware’s bad, the product’s bad. It’s as simple as that. This is particularly true for headphones, where components such as drivers, analog parts, and sound chambers must not only be of high quality individually, but also harmonize to deliver the best possible outcome.

This explains why high-end audiophile headphones are typically large. They’re practically unwearable in day-to-day life. The size of the acoustic chamber is a critical factor in sound quality, with larger generally being better. Similarly, the drivers play a key role in shaping the sound characteristics. Both the size and type of drivers significantly influence the sound characteristics. Larger drivers typically deliver better deep low bass and sound separation, while the type of driver affects the character of the sound.

In designing ‘TiTum’, we adopted an uncompromising approach, striking a balance between a large driver size, a large acoustic chamber, and portability for everyday use. We incorporated a large 50mm Beryllium Driver to extend the frequency range below 20hz and provide a natural tone, serving as a blank canvas that can emulate other headphones with high accuracy.

Our ‘TiTum’ headphones come with a default recommended sound, called ‘TiTum UHD’, which we have tailored to achieve a FLAT tone response on your ears. We recommend this setting as it allows you to experience music as it should be. Our ears do not respond to frequency curves in a flat manner, which is why software adjustments to make headphones respond flat can sound strange. ‘TiTum UHD’ addresses this issue, enabling you to enjoy a smooth response suitable for critical listening, whether in a recording studio, during mix-mastering, or when using an audiophile sound source.
Noise Cancellation Without Compromising Audio Quality
Active Noise Cancelling (ANC), despite what the name suggests, ANC actually adds more outside noise into your ear, but in polarity inverted. The idea is that two identical sounds, one of them phase inverted, will cancel each other out and create silence. That’s how ANC works.

However, this process often alters the sound source, as the same drivers that play your music are also tasked with playing the phase inverted external noise. This is why activating or deactivating ANC can dramatically change the sound source. Some well-known brands even prevent users from turning off ANC, as they have already compensated for the altered sound sources.

So, how did we tackle this problem? We have added a second driver, in addition to the main driver, dedicated solely to ANC. The result is a listening experience that remains pure and untouched, even with ANC activated. Our design ensures zero distortion in ANC mode, an achievement made possible only through a custom-designed sound chamber.

Our primary objective for ANC is to deliver the purest sound possible. While our ANC may not be the quietest due to the positioning of the ANC driver, we have succeeded in delivering the purest sound while in ANC mode.

Transforming Headphone Sound

Our ears are truly remarkable. They possess the ability to adapt to the sounds we hear and normalize them. For instance, if you listen to poor quality sound for a long period, your ears will adjust and it won’t sound as bad, until you give your ears a break. This is similar to jumping into cold water. Initially, it feels extremely cold, but if you stay in the water long enough, you no longer feel the chill.

By the same token, if you get out of the cold water after a long time and immediately jump into water of normal temperature, it will feel very hot. Our ears work in a similar manner. Therefore, instantly switching between different headphones can cause confusion for your ears. We recommend pausing the music, changing your headphone sound profile, and then resuming the music with a different tune. After a while, it’s fine to return to the previous tune. This is the ideal way to experience different headphones simultaneously.

Capturing Other Headphones’ Sound Profiles
Capturing the sound profiles of other headphones, particularly those with only an analog connection, presents certain challenges. There are numerous factors to consider in order to capture the best potential sound of these headphones. This complexity is further compounded by the variations that can occur between identical models of headphones. For analog-only headphones, the choice of converter, amplifier, or Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) can significantly influence the tone of the sound. However, despite these variations in tone, the characteristics of the headphones remain consistent.

Our primary objective in headphone emulation is to capture these unique characteristics, enabling users to experience the distinct qualities of our emulated headphones. It’s important to note that while the tone may vary depending on the equipment used, the inherent characteristics of the headphones remain consistent.
